Operations Manager at Pan African Towers Limited

Job Summary

• The Operations Manager will oversee the operation and maintenance of an assigned cluster or region, ensuring high power uptime, effective fault management, and operational efficiency. Acting as the company’s regional representative, the role involves vendor coordination, diesel and inventory management, site construction oversight, and stakeholder engagement. Requires strong analytical and communication skills, with technical knowledge in electrical, mechanical, or physics disciplines.

Job Responsibilities

• Fault Management: Manage and coordinate with the NOC for all notified faults in real-time to minimize Mean Time To Repair (MTTR).
• Power Uptime: Ensure a power uptime of ≥99.8% for the assigned cluster/region.
• Root Cause Analysis: Conduct thorough Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on major faults and develop effective action plans to prevent repeated faults.
• Acts as a PAT representative for the assigned cluster/region for all Operational and project activities.
• Ensures that site constructions for new Built to Suit (BTS) and upgrades—both civil and power—meet the required standards and specifications.
• Serves as the primary point of contact for site acquisition, construction permits, and legal issues, acting as the company representative for landlords and communities.
• Takes initiatives for the optimization of operational expenditure by implementing innovative measures such as the provision of the grid and reduction in fuel consumption.
• Diesel Management: Ensure accurate diesel supply, reporting, and consumption monitoring for all sites within the cluster/region, minimizing shrinkage and optimizing fuel efficiency.
• Vendor Coordination: Ensure that routine Preventive Maintenance (PPM) and janitorial services comply with the Service Level Agreement (SLA) established with MS vendors and security agencies. Make sure that the MS vendor implements corrective measures and follows best practices to address faults and reduce the likelihood of repeat failures. Additionally, ensure that all non-routine maintenance activities are addressed promptly in accordance with established processes.
• Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for the customer's regional teams, handling governance processes and escalations.
• Inventory Management: Take full responsibility for site inventory, including Remote Monitoring System hardware, within the assigned cluster, and ensure that the idle assets are returned to the warehouse.

Job Requirements

• HND or B.E. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or BSc/MSc in Physics.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the power infrastructure industry.
• Proficient in MS Office 365 and other computer applications.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with customers and vendors.
• Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail.
• Proven track record in diesel reconciliation, documentation (including waybills, PFIs, and JCCs), and vendor management.
• High level of accountability, integrity, and attention to detail.
• Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple site operations simultaneously.
