Music Instructor (Keyboard) at Twinkly Tots

Role Overview

• Twinkly Tots School is seeking a warm, engaging and skilled Music Instructor to introduce young children to the fundamentals of music and keyboard playing.
• The successful candidate will deliver enjoyable, age-appropriate and structured keyboard lessons that help children develop an interest in music while building foundational skills such as rhythm, listening, coordination, musical awareness and basic keyboard playing.
• The ideal candidate must not only be a competent keyboard player but must also understand how to teach and engage young children through fun, interactive and age-appropriate methods.

Key Responsibilities

The Music Instructor will be responsible for:

• Planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate keyboard lessons for young children.
• Introducing children to basic musical concepts, including rhythm, beats, sounds, notes and simple melodies.
• Teaching children the foundational skills required to begin playing the keyboard.
• Using fun and interactive teaching methods appropriate for young children, including singing, movement, rhythm games and musical activities where appropriate.
• Adapting lessons to suit individual children's abilities, confidence levels and developmental stages.
• Preparing a simple termly outline of learning objectives and lesson content.
• Monitoring children's progress and providing feedback to School Management when required.
• Preparing children for informal performances, showcases or presentations where appropriate.
• Maintaining a positive, encouraging and inclusive learning environment.
• Ensuring that school equipment and materials used during lessons are handled appropriately.
• Working collaboratively with the school's teaching team and following all relevant school policies and procedures.
• Child Safeguarding and Professional Conduct
• The successful candidate will be required to:
• Follow all Twinkly Tots School safeguarding and child protection policies.
• Use positive and age-appropriate behaviour management strategies at all times.
• Never use corporal punishment, harsh language, humiliation or any inappropriate form of discipline.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries when working with children.
• Immediately report any safeguarding or welfare concerns to School Management.
• Maintain the confidentiality of children and families.
• Follow the school's health, safety and security procedures while on the school premises.

Candidate Requirements:

The ideal candidate should have:

• Demonstrable competence and experience in playing the keyboard.
• Previous experience teaching music and/or keyboard lessons.
• Experience working with young children is highly desirable.
• A good understanding of how young children learn and how to make lessons engaging and enjoyable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, warmth and the ability to build positive relationships with children.
• The ability to adapt teaching methods to suit different learning abilities.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• A professional, reliable and punctual approach to work.
• Formal music qualifications or certifications are desirable but practical teaching experience and the ability to effectively engage young children will also be strongly considered.
