Responsibilities

Laboratory Operations Management

• Oversee daily laboratory activities, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to established protocols.
• Manage laboratory schedules, staff assignments, and equipment utilization.
• Monitor and maintain quality assurance and control programs to ensure accurate and reliable test results.

Staff Leadership and Development

• Supervise and train laboratory personnel, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous learning.
• Conduct performance evaluations, set goals, and provide feedback to team members.
• Ensure staff compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

Technical Oversight

• Implement and validate new molecular and genomic assays and technologies.
• Troubleshoot technical issues, ensuring minimal disruption to laboratory operations.
• Maintain expertise in cutting-edge molecular and genomic testing methodologies.

Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including CLIA, CAP, and ISO standards.
• Prepare and lead laboratory audits and inspections.

Data Management and Reporting

• Oversee the accurate documentation of test results and maintenance of laboratory records.
• Prepare regular performance, quality, and efficiency reports for senior management.

Budgeting and Resource Allocation

• Manage laboratory budgets, including ordering supplies and maintaining equipment.
• Optimize resource allocation to improve cost-efficiency and productivity.

Collaboration and Innovation

• Collaborate with clinical, research, and business development teams to align laboratory services with organizational goals.
• Drive innovation by identifying opportunities to expand molecular and genomic testing capabilities.

Qualifications

• Education: Ph.D., M.Sc., or equivalent in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, or related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a molecular/genomics laboratory with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
• Certifications: ASCP certification or equivalent is preferred.
• Technical Expertise:
• Hands-on experience with PCR, qPCR, NGS, and other molecular diagnostic techniques.
• Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and genomic data analysis is a plus.

Skills:

• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
