    Medical Representative

    Description

    • A Medical Representative (MR) is the key link between pharmaceutical companies and healthcare professionals, acting as a sales agent, product educator, and relationship manager.
    • They promote, educate, and sell products (drugs, equipment) to doctors, pharmacists, and nurses to increase awareness and boost sales within a specific territory.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Product Promotion: Organizing appointments and meetings with healthcare professionals to introduce new and existing products.
    • Relationship Management: Building trust and maintaining strong relationships with doctors, pharmacists, and hospital staff.
    • Product Education: Explaining the therapeutic benefits, scientific data, side effects, and dosage guidelines of pharmaceutical products.
    • Sales Target Achievement: Driving revenue growth by meeting or exceeding assigned sales targets within a specific territory.
    • Market Intelligence: Monitoring competitor activity, tracking sales data, and gathering feedback to provide insights to marketing teams.
    • Administrative Tasks: Maintaining detailed records, preparing reports, and submitting documentation of all client interactions.

    Key Skills and Requirements

    • Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, or a related field is often preferred, with prior sales experience sometimes required, according to Scribd and Prospects
    • Communication: Highly effective verbal and presentation skills to persuade healthcare professionals.
    • Scientific Aptitude: Strong understanding of medical, pharmacological, or healthcare-related science.
    • Sales and Negotiation: Persuasive skills to build rapport and close deals, as noted.
