Job description

• We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures on biological specimens to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. This role involves operating and maintaining laboratory instrumentation, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of results, performing quality control, and adhering to strict safety and compliance standards within a clinical laboratory setting.

Key responsibilities

• Performs microscopic and automated analysis of body fluids, tissues, cells, and cultures to detect abnormalities or diseases.
• Conducts blood tests, including blood counts, and analyzes resulting data.
• Sets up, maintains, calibrates, cleans, and ensures the sterility of medical laboratory equipment.
• Prepares standard solutions or reagents and records all test data accurately.
• Analyzes food, drink, and environmental samples for contamination or quality, and provides front desk support when not in the lab.

Job specification

• Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS)/ Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science (B. Sc. MLS) from a Nigerian University accredited by MLSCN
• Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technician
• Science Laboratory Technician (SLT) diploma (with clinical lab emphasis)
• Must have completed the National Board for Technical Education
• 3-4 years experience
