    Mechanical Technician

    Location: Keffi, Nasarawa

    Key Responsibilities

    • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on pellet plant machinery such as indurators, balling discs, conveyors, screens, pumps, fans, and gearboxes.
    • Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out corrective repairs to reduce plant downtime.
    • Inspect mechanical systems and components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair.
    • Assist in the installation, commissioning, and overhaul of mechanical equipment and systems.
    • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and report mechanical issues promptly.
    • Ensure adherence to safety procedures and plant operational standards during all tasks.
    • Work closely with operations, electrical, and instrumentation teams to coordinate maintenance activities.
    • Participate in shutdown maintenance and turnarounds, ensuring tasks are completed within time and quality standards.
    • Maintain housekeeping in the maintenance workshop and around equipment.

    Qualifications and Skills

    • Technical Diploma or Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Maintenance.
    • Minimum 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a pellet plant or similar heavy industrial environment.
    • Hands-on experience with mechanical systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and rotating equipment.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and work orders.
    • Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and condition monitoring tools.
    • Strong understanding of safety practices in heavy industry environments.
    • Good communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
