Mechanical Services (Hydrotesting)- Lead at Scruples Resources

MAIN FUNCTIONS

• Lead hydrotesting activities for piping, pipelines, pressure vessels, tanks, and other pressure-containing equipment.
• Develop and execute hydrotest plans, procedures, and test packages.
• Coordinate hydrotesting activities with mechanical, piping, QA/QC, construction, commissioning, and operations teams.
• Ensure all test activities comply with approved procedures, project specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
• Review test boundaries, drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, line lists, and test requirements.
• Verify that test equipment, pumps, hoses, gauges, fittings, and temporary connections are suitable and certified.
• Supervise system preparation, flushing, filling, pressurization, testing, depressurization, and reinstatement.
• Ensure proper isolation of test sections and protection of equipment not designed for the test pressure.
• Monitor pressure, temperature, and test duration throughout hydrotesting activities.
• Identify and coordinate the resolution of leaks, defects, and test failures.
• Ensure proper drainage, disposal, and environmental control of test water.
• Maintain accurate hydrotest records and documentation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare detailed hydrotest packages, including test boundaries, drawings, procedures, checklists, and test certificates.
• Verify line identification, test limits, blinds, spectacle blinds, valves, vents, drains, and isolation points.
• Coordinate with QA/QC personnel for inspection and witnessing of tests.
• Ensure pressure gauges and test equipment have valid calibration certificates.
• Conduct pre-test inspections and safety reviews.
• Lead toolbox talks and ensure compliance with Permit to Work (PTW), JSA, LOTO, and pressure-testing safety requirements.
• Establish and enforce exclusion zones around pressurized systems.
• Coordinate hydrotest activities with other ongoing construction and commissioning work.
• Record test pressure, test duration, temperature, and inspection results.
• Raise and track non-conformance reports where required.
• Supervise reinstatement and removal of temporary hydrotest equipment after successful testing.
• Prepare daily progress reports, test records, punch-list updates, and final documentation.
• Provide technical guidance to hydrotesting technicians and mechanical personnel.
• Ensure hydrotesting activities are completed safely, efficiently, and according to project schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• HND or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Significant experience in hydrotesting, mechanical construction, piping, commissioning, or maintenance within the oil & gas industry.
• Strong knowledge of piping systems, pressure testing, hydrotest procedures, and mechanical completion activities.
• Experience with piping test packs, P&IDs, isometric drawings, line lists, and pressure-test documentation.
• Knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as ASME B31.3, ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, and relevant project specifications, as applicable.
• Good understanding of pressure-testing hazards and control measures.
• Experience supervising contractors and multidisciplinary field teams.
• Strong leadership, planning, coordination, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of PTW, JSA, LOTO, HSE requirements, and pressure-testing safety controls.
• Ability to work in construction sites, refineries, petrochemical plants, offshore facilities, and other oil & gas environments.
