Mechanical Maintenance Engineer at Life Flour Mill Limited

JOB OBJECTIVE:

• To significantly improve productivity of the mechanical systems, monitor and carry out cost effective and efficient mechanical maintenance, repairs, and services on all machinery in the plant.
• Responsible for maintaining all mechanical equipment to function at maximum capacity and ensure effective utilization of manpower to optimize the smooth running of the mill process and packing lines.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

• Develop, implement, oversee, and coordinate preventive and predictive maintenance activities of all machineries, equipment, etc. in the factory for smooth running of the production activities to meet company goals.
• Monitor the fabrication, building and installation of new machines and equipment, etc. by providing technical supports, guidance, and oversight functions to contractors/third parties to ensure that projects are completed within standard and timely.
• Manage the departmental budgets/expenses (labour cost including overtime, repair/maintenance cost etc.) against budget of the company to drive efficient cost per ton, effective man-hour per ton and overall business efficiency.
• Generate checklist suitable for the plant.
• Manage, mentor and train subordinates to improve performance.
• Delegate task and machine inspection assignments to mill technicians, machinist, welders, fitters etc. and review their reports.
• Keeping daily logs and records of all maintenance functions.
• Make sure housekeeping tasks are completed to create a clean and hygienic atmosphere.
• Responsible for departmental compliance with LFM/Global HSE policies and programs geared towards a safe working environment by taking appropriate safety measures/actions in conjunction with the HSE department.
• Monitor the inventory and management of spare parts in stock to ensure the availability of mechanical spares for timely corrective maintenance/troubleshooting of the milling machines/equipment.
• Providing support to other department when necessary
• Develop new projects and design modifications which can result in downtime reduction, projects on increasing the reliability of system.
• Perform any other activities as instructed or assigned by the Management.

Qualification

• B.Sc. B.Eng./ HND in Mechanical Engineering/ Mechatronics Engineering.
• Membership of NSE and the use of AUTOCAD for engineering design is an added advantage.

Experience:

• 5-8 years’ cognate experience in a similar role.

Skills:

• Proficient in reading schematics and work plans.
• Have hands –on experience with mechanical maintenance, fabrication, fitting, welding, etc.
• Pay close attention to details.
• Be able to multitask and have time-management skills.
• Good organizer and communicator
• Good technical insight and able to trouble shoot.
• Team player
• Ability to work under pressure without supervision.
• Quality & safety conscious
• Good at technical report writing.
• Possess strong problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft office packages.

Note: Knowledge on Buhler mill or equipment experience is an added advantage
