Mechanical Engineering Team Lead at Life Flour Mill Limited

Principal Responsibility:

To oversee, coordinate, and ensure the effective execution of mechanical maintenance activities, including preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance, in order to maximize equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and support safe and efficient plant operations. The Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of technicians, ensuring adherence to safety and maintenance standards, and maintaining accurate documentation and reporting.

Duties:   

• Supervise, coordinate, and lead mechanical maintenance technicians in day-to-day operations.
• Plan and oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities for mechanical equipment (e.g., compressors, conveyors, elevators, gearboxes, etc.).
• Ensure all maintenance work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical failures or issues, minimizing equipment downtime.
• Develop and maintain maintenance schedules, work orders, and asset records using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
• Ensure the availability of spare parts and maintenance tools by coordinating with the HOD and procurement departments.
• Train and mentor maintenance staff on equipment, procedures, and safety practices.
• Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive measures.
• Assist in budgeting for maintenance activities and monitor expenses to remain within budget.
• Liaise with other departments (Production, Quality, Safety) to coordinate maintenance without disrupting operations.
• Maintain documentation of maintenance procedures, inspections, and compliance records.

Qualification, Skills, and Abilities: 

• Bachelor's degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum [5+] years of experience in mechanical maintenance, with at least [2+] years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and industrial machinery.
• Hands-on experience in FMCG mechanical, utility equipment operation and maintenance
• Proficient in reading technical drawings and equipment manuals.
• Experience with CMMS software (e.g., SAP PM, CWorks, or similar).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Knowledge of safety regulations (e.g., OSHA standards) and best practices in maintenance.
• Not more than 35years of age
