    Mechanical Engineer – Fabrication & Gas Pipeline Supervision

    Location: Ajaokuta

    Job Summary

    We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to supervise fabrication activities and gas pipeline installation projects. The ideal candidate will ensure all work complies with design specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Supervise fabrication of structural and piping components as per engineering drawings and specifications.
    • Oversee installation and testing of gas pipelines (LPG, CNG, PNG, etc.).
    • Coordinate with contractors, fabricators, welders, and QA/QC teams.
    • Monitor welding activities (WPS/PQR adherence) and ensure NDT requirements are fulfilled.
    • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards, particularly for high-risk gas pipeline operations.
    • Review and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, isometric drawings, and site layouts.
    • Conduct inspections and provide daily reports on progress, quality, and safety.
    • Manage and resolve site issues, material shortages, and technical challenges.
    • Participate in pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
    • Maintain documentation and assist in preparing as-built drawings.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma with relevant experience.
    • Proven experience (minimum 3–5 years) in fabrication and gas pipeline installation.
    • Familiarity with ASME, API, and other relevant pipeline codes and standards.
    • Certification in welding inspection (CSWIP/BGAS/NDT Level II) is a plus.
    • Strong understanding of HSE practices in pipeline and fabrication projects.
    • Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills.

    Preferred Skills:

    • Knowledge of AutoCAD or similar drafting tools.
    • Experience with pipeline hydrotesting and pneumatic testing.
    • Familiarity with client documentation and third-party inspections
