mechanic - Springs Suspensions at Sunbeth Global Concepts (SGC)

As a Heavy-Duty Springs and Suspension Systems Technician for Sunbeth Global Concepts Limited, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of vehicles’ springs and suspension systems to adequately lift and haul the appropriate capacity of consignment as specified by the OEM. This role demands a high level of technical proficiency, and a deep understanding of the widths, thickness, and lengths of the various components that make for a viable suspension system.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Diagnose and Troubleshoot:

• Conduct thorough inspections to identify issues in heavy-duty truck springs, U-Clips, Shock Absorbers, Stabilizer rods, and suspension systems and escalate all identified issues for a prompt remedy before allowing any vehicle with such identified issues to exit for any logistics operations.
• Employ diagnostic tools and techniques for accurate problem identification to prevent the breakdown of vehicles in transit due to spring or suspension system issues.

Repairs and Maintenance:

• Execute repairs and maintenance tasks on springs and suspension systems, ensuring alignment with manufacturer specifications, in a timely manner to always ensure the prompt availability of vehicles and to ensure the integrity of spring and suspension systems when vehicles are loaded.
• Overhaul and replace suspension components as necessary to restore optimal functionality.

Parts Replacement:

• Efficiently replace worn-out or damaged parts in springs and suspension systems.
• Ensure all replaced parts are properly returned to the store for proper tagging and recording.
• Source and order necessary components, ensuring compatibility and adherence to quality standards.

Quality Control:

• Perform comprehensive testing on repaired systems to ensure proper functionality and compliance with safety and vehicle capacity standards.
• Verify that all repairs on springs and suspension systems meet industry regulations and internal quality benchmarks while maintaining a zero repeat-job record.

Documentation:

• Maintain accurate records of repairs, replacements, and maintenance activities.
• Generate detailed reports on completed tasks, outlining steps taken and parts utilized and further observations that are to be attended to for optimal availability of the vehicle(s) at all times.

Collaboration:

• Collaborate effectively with other mechanics and relevant departments to address diverse maintenance-related issues in order to pre-identify and resolve potential spring and suspension problems and keep the vehicles well-running and available at all times.
• Share your expertise and insights to enhance overall team performance.

Safety and Compliance:

• Strict adherence to safety protocols and guidelines.
• Stay informed about industry developments and changes in regulations related to springs and suspension systems in order to optimize vehicle capacity and ensure primed with the most reliable springs and suspension parts.

JOB EXPERIENCE

• HND or Certificate of Proficiency in Mechanical Engineering.
• Specialized training in heavy-duty truck suspension systems.
• Knowledge of the latest advancements in suspension system technology.
• Certification from recognized automotive or diesel mechanic institutions.

• Understanding of the lengths, width, and thickness of metal frames.
• Ability to successfully recalibrate axle dimensions.
• Proficiency in reinforcing springs and load bases.
• Acute awareness of weak links in springs and suspension systems
• Extensive experience (minimum 5 years) in heavy-duty truck mechanic repairs, specializing in springs and suspension systems.
• In-depth knowledge of spring dimensions and their impact on weight hauling.
