    Managing Director , GCML

    Job Summary

    • Provide visionary leadership and overall executive accountability for GCML’, including Capital Markets, Advisory, and Project & Structured Finance, driving long-term growth and sustainable competitive advantage.
    • Define and execute the firm’s investment banking strategy in alignment with the broader Greenwich Group objectives, ensuring market leadership and superior shareholder value.
    • Lead transformational initiatives to expand the firm’s footprint in Nigeria, establishing GCML as a premier advisory, capital markets, project & structure finance partner for government, corporate and institutional clients.
    • Maintain and expand senior-level relationships with company C-suites , regulators, institutional investors, and international financial institutions to originate and execute complex, high-value transactions.
    • Identify, evaluate, and implement innovative financial solutions that address the evolving capital, project/structured finance and strategic advisory needs of clients across sectors.
    • Provide executive oversight across all business units, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, risk management, and high-quality deal execution.
    • Lead the development of a world-class Investment Banking team, including talent strategy, succession planning, mentorship, and fostering a high-performance culture.
    • Champion the firm’s thought leadership and brand positioning, representing GCML at conferences, industry panels, and strategic forums, thereby enhancing investor confidence.

    Job Details

    Origination and Execution of deals

    • Originate, lead, and secure high-value Investment Banking mandates from new and existing clients across private and government sectors.
    • Lead execution of complex transactions, including debt and equity capital raising, project and structured finance, mergers & acquisitions, and advisory mandates.
    • Provide executive oversight for deal teams, ensuring optimal transaction structuring, rigorous financial analysis, and successful execution.
    • Build and maintain a pipeline of high-quality mandates, ensuring sustainable revenue growth and market share expansion.

    Strategy development and Business Performance management:

    • Define the long-term strategic vision for the GCML and ensure its execution in alignment with the firm’s overall goals.
    • Drive innovation in product offerings, capital market solutions, project & structure finance transactions and advisory services to strengthen competitive positioning.
    • Monitor market dynamics, regulatory developments, and economic trends, adapting strategies to capture emerging opportunities and mitigate risks.

    Stakeholder engagement:

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with regulators (SEC, NGX, FMDQ), industry bodies, and key market participants.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Corporate Banking, Treasury, Securities Trading, Trustees, Registrars, Asset Management and other Greenwich subsidiaries to deliver integrated client solutions.

    Leadership:

    • Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing Investment Banking leadership team.
    • Oversee succession planning, performance management, and talent development initiatives.
    • Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and innovation across the division.
    • Represent GCML in industry forums, media engagements, and strategic alliances to enhance brand visibility and credibility.

    Requirements

    • University degree in a business-related discipline. 
    • Recognized professional financial certification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CFA).
    • A minimum of 20-25 years of progressive experience in Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, Capital Markets, or Financial Advisory, with a significant portion at a senior leadership level.
    • Master’s degree (MBA/MSc Finance or related discipline) is an advantage.
    • Demonstrated success in leading transformational initiatives, achieving market leadership, and driving shareholder value.
    • Extensive network of corporate clients, institutional investors, regulators, and industry stakeholders
