    Machinist

    Department: Production / Machine Shop / Engineering
    Reports To: Machine Shop Supervisor / Production Manager
    Location: Ode Remo, Ogun State

    Job Summary

    The Machinist is responsible for operating, setting up, and maintaining machine tools used in the manufacturing and fabrication of vehicle components and mechanical parts. The role ensures precision machining operations are carried out according to engineering drawings, technical specifications, and company quality standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    Machining Operations

    • Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drilling machines, grinders, and CNC machines where applicable.
    • Fabricate and machine metal components to required dimensions and tolerances.
    • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications accurately.
    • Measure and inspect machined parts using precision measuring instruments.

    Production Support

    • Support production and fabrication processes by machining required components and replacement parts.
    • Set up machines, select tools, and adjust machine settings for different operations.
    • Ensure timely completion of machining tasks to meet production schedules.

    Quality Control

    • Inspect finished parts to ensure compliance with approved specifications and tolerances.
    • Identify machining defects or inaccuracies and carry out corrective actions where necessary.
    • Maintain accurate machining and production records.

    Machine Maintenance

    • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machine tools and workshop equipment.
    • Report machine faults, breakdowns, or maintenance requirements promptly.
    • Ensure proper handling and storage of cutting tools and materials.

    Health, Safety & Housekeeping

    • Comply with company HSE policies and machine shop safety regulations.
    • Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the machine shop and work areas.

    Requirements & Qualifications

    • Minimum of OND/Trade Test Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Machining Technology, or related technical field.
    • Minimum of 3–5 years’ practical experience as a Machinist in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
    • Good knowledge of machine shop operations and machining techniques.
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical measurements.
    • Experience using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers.
    • Basic knowledge of CNC operations is an added advantage.
    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
