Logistics Operations Manager at OnePyramid

JOB SUMMARY:

• Our client, one of the largest production and distribution companies in the FMCG sector within Nigeria is looking to recruit a Logistics Operations Manager. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing day to day logistics commercial operations and drive logistics analytics and MIS reporting.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Maintain all 3rd party freight and rental contracts. Keep track of duration of rentals, alert logistics head on renewal timelines.
• Coordinate with transporters the freight rate alignments, keep the freight rate master updated in ERP and in excel.
• Coordinate freight rate negotiation meetings with transporters and logistics /SCM Head.
• Maintain trend of variations in fuel prices, Naira-USD exchange rate vis a vis. variation in freight rates (present comparison for key locations).
• Liaise with all local vendors for any sourcing requirements from SCM team members. Keep a track of scope of work vis. a vis. rates offered by vendors.
• Lead first level of price negotiation with vendors.
• Review and update Gang rates in ERP, verify the accuracy of rates.
• Approve POs in Oracle, follow up with accounts team on all types of payments viz. freight, repairs & maintenance, SCM procurements, other expenses.
• Ensure that all requisite documents are completed as per SOP before submitting to finance for payment.
• Follow up pending POD with transporters on a day-to-day basis. Control the freight payments to ensure timely POD submissions.
• Ensure that complete due diligence is followed before onboarding any new vendor into the system (company registration documents, vehicle documents, valid GIT insurance, feedback from other clients)
• Provide Logistics Head and SCM Head with MIS reports on freight, SCM procurements, gang payments, all other expenses on a monthly basis.
• Support logistics projects on an ongoing basis.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

• Any degree graduate with 8-10 years of experience in Logistics and procurement operations.
• An MBA degree will be a plus.
• Strong excel and data analysis skills.
