Logistics Assistant at Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS)

Job Summary

Logistics Assistant is under the supervision of the Logistics Officer. The  Logistics Assistant will facilitate the implementation of JRS projects in Nigeria through the coordination of staff movements, their adequate housing, and above all a supply follow-up and organizations of material.

Thus, in general, the main mission of the Logistics Assistant is to:

• Under the guidance of the Logistics Officer plan and prepare the weekly activities of the logistics department.
• Ensure accuracy of all inventories, manage stock levels.
• Receive, verify purchased goods, and review bills, purchase orders and invoices.
• Facilitate the movement of JRS personnel in the field: flight bookings, communication of departure and arrival times to staff and drivers.
• Coordinate the transport of project equipment, receiving of procured goods.
• Plan the movement of devices, track their maintenance and repair, as well as the generator and other devices.
• Prepare an orderly list for JRS goods and create contingency plans to ensure that all implemented logistics programs work successfully.
• Reception and accommodation of staff at the guesthouse.
• Follow up of the maintenance of the office and the guesthouse.
• Assist customers with enquiries.
• Organize files manually and electronically
• If necessary, accompany the Country Director for security purposes.
• Write and submit to the Logistics Officer a weekly and monthly report of activities
• Report to the hierarchy any cases of loss or lack of material and produce a report.
• Propose actions that are useful for improving the department.
• Any other duties assigned by the Logistics Officer/National Logistics Coordinator.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION

• Have a University degree (BA/Bsc/HND) in relevant field or a related experience 
• Have at least a minimum of two (2) years of progressively verifiable experience in a humanitarian organization or with displacement affected populations or significant experience as a Protection social or outreach worker.
• Proven work experience in multicultural and stressful environments.
• Experience in supply-chain
• Have good computer skills and mastery of MS Office tools.
• Experience in writing reports.
