    Legal Executive

    About the job

    • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lawyer to join our telecommunications company in Lagos.
    • As the Legal Executive, you will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various telecom contracts, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), proposals, and license documents.
    • Additionally, you will play a crucial role in ensuring regulatory compliance with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and maintaining a strong working relationship with the commission.
    • The ideal candidate should have a solid background in telecommunications law, exceptional drafting and negotiation skills, and a strong understanding of the Nigerian telecommunications industry.

    Responsibilities

    • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of telecom contracts, including but not limited to interconnection agreements, carrier service agreements, service agreements, vendor contracts, and lease agreements.
    • Review, analyze, and provide recommendations on license documents received from the NCC, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and contractual obligations.
    • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of relevant telecommunications laws, regulations, and policies in Nigeria, and proactively monitor changes in the legal and regulatory landscape.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide legal advice and guidance on business initiatives, product launches, and compliance matters.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of company policies, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
    • Interface with the NCC on a regular basis, acting as a primary point of contact for regulatory compliance matters, responding to inquiries, and representing the company's interests.
    • Conduct legal research and analysis to support decision-making and provide guidance on legal issues affecting the company's operations.
    • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging legal issues within the telecommunications sector to anticipate potential risks and provide proactive legal advice.
    • Collaborate with external legal counsel when necessary, managing external resources and ensuring cost-effective and timely legal support.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B.). A specialization in telecommunications or tech law would be an advantage.
    • A qualified legal practitioner with a minimum of [3] years post-call experience, preferably with a focus on contract drafting, regulatory compliance, and licensing matters.
    • Sound knowledge of Nigerian telecommunications laws, regulations, and policies, with a demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legal principles in a practical business context.
    • Proven experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
    • Familiarity with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and its regulatory framework, including licensing requirements, compliance obligations, and dispute resolution mechanisms.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify legal risks and propose effective solutions.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners.
    • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills, able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to legal issues.
    • Proficiency in legal research tools and technology, with a high degree of computer literacy.
