Lead Counsel, Commercial Litigation at NNPC

Objectives

Handle management of disputes and cases of commercial nature through activities such as Pre-trial engagements, Drafting & Pleadings, Case Monitoring, Witness & Evidence.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct Pre-trial engagements with relevant in-house stakeholders.
• Drafting of court processes such as pleadings, witness depositions, etc.
• Monitor progress of court cases involving NNPC.
• Monitor conduct and performance of external counsel representing NNPC in Court.
• Ensure identification of knowledgeable witnesses within NNPC to defend NNPC's interest in Court.
• Ensure the assembly of adequate evidence for the defence of NNPC's interest in legal actions.

Educational Qualification

• A University Degree in Law; Barrister at Law (BL) qualification is a must
• Professional qualification and membership of relevant professional body is required e.g. NBA

Competence

• Knowledge of Oil and Gas Industry regulations.
• Case management skills.
• Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution skills.
• Legal drafting skills.
• Legal case handling, analytics and advisory skills.
• Legislation interpretation skills.
• Oil and Gas industry Knowledge.

Experience

• Minimum of 9 years relevant post qualification experience.
• Experience in the oil and gas industry will be an added advantage.
