Laundry Attendant at The Borough Lagos

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Laundry Attendant to join our hotel operations team. The Laundry Attendant is responsible for washing, drying, ironing, folding, and organizing hotel linens, towels, uniforms, and guest laundry to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation. The ideal candidate should be efficient, organized, and committed to maintaining quality while adhering to hotel hygiene and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Sort, wash, dry, iron, fold, and package hotel linens, towels, staff uniforms, and guest laundry according to hotel standards.
• Operate and maintain laundry equipment, including washing machines, dryers, steam irons, and pressing machines.
• Inspect all laundered items for stains, tears, damage, or wear, and report items requiring repair or replacement.
• Handle guest laundry with care, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and timely delivery.
• Use appropriate detergents, chemicals, and fabric treatments according to manufacturer and hotel guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry room, equipment, and workstations at all times.
• Monitor laundry supplies and report shortages of detergents, chemicals, and other consumables.
• Ensure proper storage and distribution of clean linens and uniforms to the relevant departments.
• Follow health, safety, and infection control procedures when handling soiled linens and laundry.
• Report equipment malfunctions or maintenance issues promptly.
• Support inventory counts of hotel linens, towels, and uniforms as required.
• Work collaboratively with the Housekeeping team to ensure linen availability for daily hotel operations.
• Comply with all hotel policies, procedures, and quality standards.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor or Laundry Supervisor.

Requirements

• Minimum of SSCE/WAEC or equivalent qualification.
• Previous experience as a Laundry Attendant, Housekeeping Attendant, or in a similar role within a hotel, hospitality, or commercial laundry environment is an advantage.
• Knowledge of laundry processes, fabric care, stain removal, and garment handling.
• Ability to safely operate laundry equipment and use cleaning chemicals.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods, lift laundry bags, and perform repetitive tasks.
• Honest, dependable, and able to handle guest items with professionalism and care.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude toward customer service.
