Junior Back-end Developer at Heckerbella Limited

Summary of Role

We are looking for an analytical, results-driven Junior Back-end Developer who will work with team members to troubleshoot and improve current back-end applications and processes. The Junior Back-end Developer will use his or her understanding of programming languages and tools to analyze current codes and industry developments, formulate more efficient processes, solve problems, and create a more seamless experience for users. He/She should have excellent communication, time-management, and project management skills.

Responsibilities:

• Compile and analyze data, processes, and codes to troubleshoot problems and identify areas for improvement.
• Collaborating with the front-end developers and other team members to establish objectives an0d design more functional, cohesive codes to enhance the user experience.
• Developing ideas for new programs, products, or features by monitoring industry developments and trends.
• Recording data and reporting it to proper parties, such as clients or leadership.
• Participating in continuing education and training to remain current on best practices, learn new programming languages, and better assist other team members.
• Taking lead on projects, as required.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer programming, computer science, or a related field.
• At least (2) years previous working experience as a PHP / Laravel developer
• Understanding the fully synchronous behavior of PHP
• Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
• Hands-on experience with SQL schema design, SOLID principles, REST API design 
• Software testing (PHPUnit, PHPSpec, Behat)
• Other Skills
  • Composer / NPM / Webpack
  • Laravel forge server deployment and management
  • Laravel Dusk Testing
• Knowledge of object-oriented PHP programming
• Strong knowledge of the common PHP or web server exploits and their solutions
• Indepth knowledge of Node.js
• Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
• User authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments
• Integration of various data sources and databases into one system
• Familiarity with limitations of PHP as a platform and its workarounds
• Creating database schemas that represent and support business processes
• Familiar with SQL/NoSQL databases and their declarative query languages
• Great understanding of code versioning tools, eg Git
• Experience in Core PHP using MVC Architecture.
• Knowledge of database operations with MySQL/MongoDB, Stored procedures.
• Knowledge of Bootstrap, Framework 7 or other front-end frameworks
• Working knowledge of AWS EB, EC2, RDS, S3, ELB and Cloudfront systems
• Able to consume 3rd party API's
• Strong documentation, communication, and team collaboration skills.
• Knowledge of Django framework-python is an added advantage
• Excellent time and project management skills.
• Strong problem solving and verbal and written communication skills
• Convey progress of technical process to project manager
• Test, troubleshoot and debug web applications
