Java & C# Software Engineer at Bluechip Technologies Limited

As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Java & C# Software Engineer to join our Product and Application Service Engineering team. The successful candidate will design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications and integrations for leading clients across telecommunications, banking, oil & gas, and the public sector. This role is ideal for engineers who can take ownership of workstreams, deliver high-quality solutions with minimal supervision, and provide technical guidance to junior developers while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver business-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise applications and services using Java (Spring Boot)and/or C# (.NET Core/ASP.NET Core).
• Build, consume, secure, and document RESTful APIs and system-to-system integrations.
• Develop clean, scalable, maintainable, and well-tested code while actively participating in peer code reviews and adhering to software engineering best practices.
• Translate business, functional, and technical requirements into high-quality software solutions, providing realistic effort estimates and timely delivery.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve application issues across development, testing, staging, and production environments.
• Take end-to-end ownership of assigned application modules from solution design through deployment, support, and continuous improvement.
• Mentor junior developers through code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Collaborate with Solution Architects, QA Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Project Managers, and client stakeholders throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
• Contribute to application architecture, technical documentation, deployment guides, and operational runbooks to ensure knowledge continuity and maintainability.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including code quality, automation, DevOps practices, and software development standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
• Minimum of 4 years’ professional experience in software development using Java and/or C# technologies.
• Strong hands-on experience developing enterprise applications with Spring Boot or .NET Core / ASP.NET Core(experience in both is an added advantage).
• Proven experience designing, developing, and integrating RESTful APIs, including authentication mechanisms such as OAuth2 and JWT.
• Strong SQL expertise with practical experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL Server.
• Proficiency with Git and collaborative software development workflows, including branching strategies and pull requests.
• Good understanding of software architecture principles, object-oriented programming, design patterns, and secure coding practices.
• Experience working within Agile software development environments.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with messaging and integration technologies such as Apache Kafka, ActiveMQ, Apache Camel, or WSO2.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Frontend development experience using React, Next.js, or Angular will be an added advantage.
• Experience delivering enterprise software solutions within Telecommunications, Banking, Government, Oil & Gas, or other regulated industries.
• Familiarity with unit and integration testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, xUnit, or NUnit.
