Job Summary

The IT Manager will oversee the planning, implementation, management, maintenance, and security of all information technology systems across the school. The successful candidate will ensure the reliability of ICT infrastructure, provide technical support to staff and students, safeguard institutional data, and drive technology initiatives that enhance teaching, learning, and administrative efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

IT Infrastructure Management

• Plan, implement, maintain, and upgrade the school's ICT infrastructure.
• Manage servers, workstations, printers, interactive displays, projectors, and other IT equipment.
• Monitor system performance and ensure maximum uptime.
• Maintain the school's wired and wireless network infrastructure.
• Oversee internet connectivity and bandwidth optimization.

Systems Administration

• Administer Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365/Google Workspace, Active Directory, and cloud-based platforms.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, email systems, and shared resources.
• Ensure regular system updates, backups, and disaster recovery procedures.

Cybersecurity & Data Protection

• Develop and enforce IT security policies and procedures.
• Monitor network security and protect against cyber threats.
• Implement antivirus, firewall, and endpoint security solutions.
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and best practices.
• Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and security audits.

Technical Support

• Provide first- and second-level technical support to staff and students.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issues.
• Maintain an efficient helpdesk system and ensure timely issue resolution.
• Train staff on the effective use of educational technologies.

Educational Technology

• Support Learning Management Systems (LMS), student information systems, examination software, and digital learning platforms.
• Collaborate with academic staff to integrate technology into teaching and learning.
• Evaluate and recommend emerging educational technologies.

 IT Asset Management

• Maintain an accurate inventory of all ICT assets.
• Coordinate procurement, installation, maintenance, and replacement of hardware and software.
• Manage vendor relationships and service contracts.

Strategic Planning

• Develop and implement the school's IT strategy.
• Prepare departmental budgets and manage IT expenditure.
• Recommend technology solutions that improve operational efficiency.
• Lead technology projects from conception to implementation.

Compliance & Documentation

• Develop and maintain IT policies, SOPs, disaster recovery plans, and user manuals.
• Ensure software licensing compliance.
• Prepare periodic reports on IT performance and key metrics.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A Master's degree is an added advantage.

Professional Certifications (Preferred)

• Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP/MCSA/MCSE)
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
• CompTIA Network+
• CompTIA Security+
• ITIL Foundation
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) (advantageous)

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in IT management.
• Previous experience in an educational institution is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience managing enterprise networks and IT infrastructure.
