    IRS Teacher

    Job Purpose

    • The IRS Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing lessons that promote the understanding and practice of Islamic Religious Studies in line with the school curriculum.
    • The teacher should foster moral, spiritual, and academic growth in students while upholding Islamic values and supporting the holistic development of learners.

    Key Responsibilities
    Teaching & Learning:

    • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in Islamic Religious Studies that meet curriculum standards (NECO, WAEC, IGCSE, or national curriculum as applicable).
    • Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles.
    • Foster critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and spiritual reflection in students.
    • Prepare lesson notes, schemes of work, and teaching aids as required.

    Assessment & Record Keeping:

    • Design, administer, and grade assessments, assignments, and examinations.
    • Maintain accurate records of students’ progress and performance.
    • Provide constructive feedback to students and parents to support learning improvement.

    Student Development & Guidance:

    • Act as a role model of Islamic values, promoting good conduct, discipline, and respect.
    • Provide spiritual and moral guidance to students in line with the school’s ethos.
    • Support students with special educational needs in understanding religious concepts.

    Curriculum & Professional Development:

    • Contribute to curriculum development, enrichment, and review of IRS programs.
    • Integrate modern teaching strategies and technology into lessons where appropriate.
    • Participate in departmental and staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.

    Pastoral & School Community Role:

    • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and school leadership in supporting students’ overall growth.
    • Supervise students during school activities, prayers, assemblies, and other duties as assigned.
    • Uphold safeguarding, child protection, and school policies.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Islamic Studies, Religious Education, or related field.
    • Teaching qualification (PGDE, B.Ed, or equivalent) preferred.
    • Sound knowledge of Islamic theology, history, Qur’an, Hadith, and jurisprudence.
    • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Arabic (reading Qur’an and basic interpretation) is an added advantage.

    • Passion for teaching and nurturing young learners.
    • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
    • Ability to inspire students academically, morally, and spiritually.
    • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
