Reports to: Senior Nursing Officer & Chief Matron.
Department: Nursing. Supervises: Nursing Assistants.
Internal Working Relationships: All Clinical and Non–Clinical Staff.
External Working Relationships: Clients, customers, relatives and friends of clients.

Basic Purpose Of The Job

To assist clients in restoring their health and wellbeing in the ICU.

Accountabilities

• Implementing nursing care plan for clients in the ICU.
• Close observation and monitoring of vital signs of clients with necessary follow up.
• Admission and discharge of clients into the ICU.
• Managing and ensuring that life support equipment such as ventilators, syringe pumps and feeding tubes function properly.
• Performing such tasks as medication administration, inserting catheters and others as directed by supervising consultant.
• Care of the critically ill patients and their attendants.
• Complete documentation and maintaining adequate client records.
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment in the ICU.
• Prompt incidence reporting and management of clients’ grievances.
• Maintains continuity among nursing teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Establish and maintain proper aseptic techniques, isolation procedures, and infection control measures in the ICU accordingly.
• Maintains client confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
• Comply with the use of standard nursing operating procedures and policies/ adherence to quality standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Hours

• Monday To Sunday
• Day shift ( 8.00am – 6.00pm)
• Night shift ( 6.00p.m – 8.00a.m)

(According to the department’s duty schedule)
Extended hours and other times as required by work exigencies
