We’re seeking an HSE Officer responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining Health, Safety, and Environmental standards across manufacturing operations to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
The role focuses on preventing workplace accidents, reducing environmental risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments across production areas, warehouses, and office spaces to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
Monitor adherence to all HSE policies, procedures, and statutory regulations within the manufacturing facility.
Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all employees and contractors within the facility.
Coordinate and deliver HSE induction programs, toolbox talks, safety drills, and awareness training for staff.
Maintain HSE records, incident logs, safety reports, and compliance documentation accurately and timely.
Monitor fire safety systems, emergency response procedures, first aid readiness, and evacuation plans to ensure operational effectiveness.
Ensure compliance with environmental management practices including waste disposal, pollution prevention, and hazardous material handling.
Support regulatory inspections and liaise with government agencies and external auditors on HSE compliance matters.
Track corrective actions from audits and inspections to ensure timely closure and sustained compliance.
Promote a proactive safety culture by encouraging hazard reporting, employee engagement, and continuous HSE improvement initiatives.
Ensure all contractors and visitors comply with site safety requirements before accessing operational areas.
Adhere strictly to all company policies and always promote safe working practices.
Requirements
Minimum of HND/B.Sc. in Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Safety, Occupational Health, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in HSE operations within a manufacturing environment.
Good understanding of Nigerian HSE regulations, factory safety standards, and environmental compliance requirements.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to prepare reports and safety documentation.
Experience in conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations is required.
Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety principles.

Incident investigation and reporting skills.
Strong communication, training delivery skills, attention to details, compliance monitoring, problem-solving and analytical thinking ability.

Strong documentation and reporting skills.
Relevant certifications (preferred): ISPON, HSE Level 1–3, Basic First Aid and Fire Safety Training, Factory Safety Compliance Training.
International certifications (added advantage): NEBOSH International General Certificate, IOSH Managing Safely, OSHA Safety Certification, ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 Internal Auditor Certification.
