Head of Recovery at Moniepoint Inc.

• The Head of Recovery is responsible for shaping and executing Moniepoint's loan recovery strategy, ensuring minimal credit losses by optimizing the effectiveness and efficiency of the recovery unit. In this role, you will develop and implement recovery strategies, design the recovery organization, and recruit top talent. A data-driven approach will be essential in evaluating the effectiveness of both strategies and personnel.
• Additionally, you will engage with external stakeholders, including law enforcement and legal firms, as needed, and establish a streamlined process to maximize the recovery of delinquent and non-performing loans. This position demands extensive experience in recovery and credit risk, strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills, leadership, data-driven decision-making, and a commitment to high ethical standards.

What You’ll Get To Do

• Develop and execute recovery strategies to reduce non-performing loans and bad debt provisions.
• Design the recovery organisation and supervise the hiring process for recovery talent.
• Optimise the effectiveness of the recovery team by setting clear objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Continuously provide training to the recovery network in alignment with established recovery strategies and industry best practices.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key external partners including law enforcement, legal firms etc.
• Report on recovery performance and provide insights to senior management.
• Work closely with legal teams on litigation and enforcement proceedings.
• Collaborate with internal departments such as credit, legal, risk, and finance to align recovery efforts.

To succeed in this role, we think you should have

• A minimum of a B.Sc/H.ND in any business related discipline
• At least 10 years of experience in credit recovery, debt collection, or risk management within the banking sector in Nigeria
• Strong network of legal and law enforcement contacts across the country
• Proven experience in leading a recovery team and managing high-value non-performing loans
• Proven experience in handling recovery in each of the 6 geo-political zones in Nigeria
• Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret financial data
