Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements preparation under IFRS, IFRS 17, and NAICOM standards
• Oversee the end-to-end reporting close process, including journals, accruals, provisions, GL, and trial balances.
• Drive cross-functional IFRS 17 execution with Actuarial, Investments, Operations, and Reinsurance.
• Set technical accounting policies, disclosures, and variance analysis for Executive Board reporting.

Regulatory, Statutory & Audit Management

• Coordinate timely submissions to NAICOM, FIRS, and regulatory bodies.
• Monitor evolving IFRS and tax standards to assess corporate impact.
• Direct external audit engagements, working papers, and resolution of audit matters.

Controls & Process Improvement

• Strengthen Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting (ICFR) and balance sheet substantiation.
• Resolve open reconciliation items and streamline source system data flow into the general ledger.

Leadership & Strategic Collaboration

• Serve as key financial reporting partner to the CFO and collaborate with Treasury, Payables, and Investments.
• Coach, develop, and lead the Financial Reporting team toward high standards of accountability.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Timeliness and accuracy of IFRS/IFRS 17 financial statements and board reports.
• Prompt compliance with NAICOM and FIRS filing deadlines.
• Reduction in audit adjustments, control deficiencies, and long-standing reconciling items.
• Smooth execution and efficiency of the financial close cycle.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related discipline.
• Certification: ACA / ACCA required.
• Experience: 7–10+ years in finance/accounting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in IFRS, IFRS 17, ERP software, and advanced Excel. Insurance sector background preferred.
• Competencies: Technical accounting, financial analysis, internal controls, team leadership, and cross-functional communication.

• External: External Auditors, NAICOM, FIRS, Financial Consultants, Banking Partners.
