Head, Credit Risk Management at a Financial Institution

Job Summary

We seek the services of an experienced professional to work with us as Head, Risk Management.

The Head, Risk Management will provide strategic leadership for the Bank's risk management function, ensuring the effective identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation of credit, operational, liquidity, market, compliance, and other emerging risks. The successful candidate will support Management in maintaining a strong risk culture while enabling sustainable business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Bank's risk management strategy, policies, and framework.
• Identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate financial and non-financial risks across the Bank.
• Oversee credit, operational, liquidity, market, and strategic risk management activities.
• Establish appropriate risk limits, controls, monitoring tools, and early-warning indicators.
• Monitor the Bank's risk profile and provide regular reports and recommendations to Management and the Board.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and approved risk management policies.
• Review and assess significant business and credit decisions from a risk perspective.
• Conduct risk assessments, stress testing, and scenario analysis where required.
• Work closely with Credit, Audit, Compliance, Internal Control, Finance, and Operations teams to strengthen the Bank's control environment.
• Identify emerging risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Promote a strong risk management and compliance culture across the Bank.
• Lead, supervise, and develop the Risk Management team.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Banking and Finance, or a related field.
• Relevant professional qualification such as FRM, CFA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent is an advantage.
• Master's degree is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 7–10 years' relevant experience, including experience in a senior or managerial risk role.
• Strong experience in banking, microfinance, fintech, or other regulated financial institutions.
• Proven experience in enterprise risk management, credit risk, operational risk, regulatory compliance, and internal controls.
