    Head, Chemical Business

    Job Summary

    • We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Head, Chemicals to provide strategic leadership and drive the growth, profitability, and overall performance of the company's Chemical Business.
    • The successful candidate will oversee the chemical business value chain, including business development, product development, sales and marketing, supply chain, customer relationships, and operational performance.
    • The role will focus on strengthening the existing business while identifying and developing new chemical business opportunities, strategic partnerships, and markets.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement strategic plans to grow the company's chemical business in line with overall corporate objectives.
    • Consolidate and grow the existing business while identifying new chemical business opportunities and strategic partnerships.
    • Develop and execute sales and marketing strategies to increase revenue, profitability, and market share.
    • Lead market intelligence and competitor analysis to identify industry trends, customer needs, emerging technologies, and business opportunities.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, OEMs, dealers, technical partners, regulators, and other industry stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with the sales team to establish sales targets and drive achievement of revenue objectives across relevant regions and market segments.
    • Identify opportunities for cross-selling, up-selling, new accounts, and expansion within existing customer relationships.
    • Oversee digital marketing initiatives aimed at increasing brand visibility and customer engagement.
    • Provide strategic direction for the sourcing, production, distribution, and availability of and other chemical products.
    • Work closely with procurement and clearing agents to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of products.
    • Monitor inventory levels and lead times to ensure consistent product availability and efficient working capital management.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and optimize the cost structure.
    • Monitor market trends and competitive activities and provide actionable market intelligence to management.
    • Develop and maintain relevant industry data and ensure timely reporting of market intelligence.
    • Build strong relationships with industry leaders and key influencers within customer organizations.
    • Develop and maintain a strong network of strategic business partnerships.
    • Identify emerging markets and develop strategies for market expansion.
    • Provide leadership with regular updates on business opportunities, market challenges, risks, and growth prospects.
    • Provide coaching, industry knowledge, and relevant market information to the team.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable industry regulations and company policies.
    • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Managing Director.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in  Engineering, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or any relevant discipline from an accredited university.
    • A relevant professional qualification or membership of a professional body will be an added advantage.
    • Minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience, preferably in industrial sales, chemicals, lubricants, or a related industry.
    • Strong knowledge of chemical/lubricant products, applications, market dynamics, and industry trends.
    • Proven experience in business development, sales leadership, market expansion, and strategic account management.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage distributors, customers, suppliers, OEMs, and strategic partners.
    • Strong commercial and financial acumen with a track record of delivering revenue and margin growth.
    • Excellent negotiation, relationship management, analytical, and communication skills.
    • Strong people management and leadership capabilities.
    • Ability to develop and execute strategic business plans.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
