    Graduate Intern (NYSC) - Technical Safety Engineer

    Purpose

    • This is a paid 1-year developmental programme designed to equip exceptional fresh graduates (who are seeking NYSC posting or just recently completed NYSC) with intense hands-on experience and the right technical skill sets as the foundation of their professional lives.
    • The successful candidates will receive regular coaching and mentoring required to complete assignments and projects in order to develop the necessary learning and skill sets.
    • There is opportunity for retention of outstanding individuals after the programme.

    Job Description

    • Assist in carrying out safety engineering and risk assessment (and legislative compliance) studies including fire, explosion, smoke and gas dispersion modelling, and QRA.
    • Scribe in formal safety reviews.
    • Provide support to project and operational teams on the risk mitigation measures required for operational and integrity-related Technical / Process Safety projects.
    • Support in the development of proprietary software products and solutions including REVaRS, ReSTeRS.
    • Analyse and maintain database of relevant new / emerging regulations and support any consultation processes and other databases as may be assigned.
    • Support the development of Melios major accident and incident database.
    • Undertake detailed analysis of database to generate factual information that can be published on website and used in enhancing study delivery.
    • Deliver quality, cost effective and timely engineering support within short interval planning and conflicting priorities.
    • Identify and propose new opportunities and areas of improvement within Melios processes and services.
    • Undertake daily visit to company approved news and current affairs webpages to identify business relevant news items including safety related incidents and accidents.
    • Perform any other tasks relevant to business and departmental goals as directed by management.

    Qualifications

    • B.Eng. in Engineering (Chemical, Petroleum, Mechanical) discipline with First Class/ Distinction or a minimum of Second Class Upper.
    • All applicants must be fresh graduates awaiting NYSC and be willing to complete NYSC programme with the company.

    Skills and Qualities:

    • Ability to work in both large and small teams.
    • Ability to carry out tasks in accordance with defined procedures and instruction.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills, and must have the ability to document and present clearly.
    • Show adaptability, strong willingness to learn new skills and commitment to exceptional delivery.
