Golang Backend Engineer at BFREE Africa

JOB DESCRIPTION

As the Backend Engineer at BFREE, you will be a crucial part of our technology team, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the backend systems that power our revolutionary financial platform. Reporting directly to the CTO, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless integration of technology with finance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in backend development, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for driving technological innovation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient backend systems to support BFREE's financial operations across multiple countries and markets.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Implement and optimize APIs, databases, and other backend components to enhance system performance.
• Work closely with the technology leadership team to align technology initiatives with the company's overall goals and objectives.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in backend development.
• Should possess the ability to identify the most efficient solution and demonstrate proactive initiative.
• Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with other members of the development team

QUALIFICATIONS

• Proven experience in a backend engineering role, preferably in the fintech or banking sector.
• At least 3 years of experience as a software engineer
• Strong backend experience in developing APIs that can efficiently handle large amounts of requests and data using Golang
• Must have written GO in production for at least 1-2 years
• Experience working with Docker, AWS,  and cloud native technologies
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with database design and optimization, and microservices architecture.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
• Proficient understanding of security best practices in backend development.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
