    Global Commercial Access Lead

    ROLE SUMMARY

    • The Global Commercial Access Lead is responsible for expanding the scale of the Global Commercial Access Partnerships (GCAP) programmes in Nigeria and managing and executing the existing GCAP business across Vaccines (Gavi/UNICEF), Oncology (Clinton Health Access Initiative) and Family Planning (Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation/Children Investment Fund Foundation) partnerships and programs across Nigeria.
    • The candidate will lead Ministry engagements for the aforementioned business segments and will ensure successful negotiations at all levels of the health system enabling the deployment of Vaccines, Oncology and Family Planning access programs in targeted States and Key Institutions.
    • Key Stakeholders for this role will include Federal Ministries of Health and Finance, Ministries of Health and Finance at the State Level Purchasing agencies, Formulary Committees, and Third Sector Partners (Social Marketing Organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations, & Aid Agencies) to optimize access for Pfizer medicines and strengthen external relationships and partnerships.
    • The candidate will report to the Global Commercial and Access Programs Lead who is based in USA with a dotted line to the West Africa Country Manager. In addition, the role will collaborate and work very closely with various colleagues from the Pfizer Nigeria/Sub-Sahara Africa organization.

    ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Define strategies and tactics and oversee implementation to achieve the annual Operation plan for Vaccines (Gavi), Family planning and Oncology Cancer Access Partnership in Nigeria (NCAP).
    • Develop and builds effective and sustainable working external relationships with country immunization program implementers (Essential Program Immunization managers) and UNICEF country officers to enable mid and long-term success of Pfizer’s Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV 13) in Nigeria
    • Identify and prioritize partnerships with local academic societies to advance the importance of preventing pneumococcal disease in Nigeria to include on-going heath care worker training needs.
    • Enhance partnerships with regional/local CHAI colleagues and other relevant external Oncology partners including local Health Authorities and ensures that Pfizer is positioned as an innovative and ethical provider of public health care solutions.
    • Accountable for tailoring and implementing Vaccines, Oncology and Family Planning tactical programs and portfolio specific customer/stakeholder experiences. 
    • Establish and track key performance indicators for partnerships and investments to ensure desired impact is being achieved while making recommendations on enhancements as needed to support optimal business performance.
    • Build deep understanding of payer stakeholder needs and ensure these stakeholders are considered and engaged in line with commercial priorities and plans.
    • Collaborate with local colleagues, such as PGS, regulatory, GAV, commercial, BIA, medical, legal, etc. to inform and solve issues related to GCAP products/programs implementation.
    • Secures internal support and resourcing from Nigeria commercial leadership. 
    • Manages all budget and operations related to Pfizer GCAP initiatives in Nigeria.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Deep understanding of Nigeria public health environment and experience of working in collaboration with stakeholders from States and Federal levels in Nigeria
    • Previous experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred: family planning, oncology, vaccines, access, public health.
    • Ability to work effectively across a highly matrixed organization and various time zones while identifying the need to adequately engage with functions relevant to achieving business objectives around a common purpose.
    • Previous commercial experience in public sector and institutional environment
    • Proven ability to build coalitions and develop strong partnerships across functions.
    • Excellent communicator, both verbal and written to internal and external audiences and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
    • Proven ability to be both strategic and forward thinking as well as tactical to enable successful execution of short-term goals.
    • Expertise in problem-solving and streamlining processes leading to getting things done quickly and efficiently.
    • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information into actionable plan.
    • Understanding of the critical importance of working with integrity and achieving goals in a compliant way
    • Effective diplomacy and influencing skills.
    • Passionate about global health
    • Experience of working in account management and/or institutional business
    • Fluent in written and spoken English.
    • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Medical/Sciences is preferred.
    • 5-10 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical, or related industry
