Job Summary

• The Geologist will study the Earth's structure and processes to locate and assess natural resources such as minerals, oil, gas, and water. Responsibilities include conducting fieldwork, analyzing geological data, and providing insights to support exploration and development projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for earth sciences.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys and field investigations, collecting geological samples such as rock, soil, and water to assess resource potential.
• Develop detailed geological maps, cross-sections, and models to identify and visualize subsurface structures.
• Analyze geological, geophysical, and geochemical data to evaluate the presence and extent of natural resources.
• Use specialized geological software to process and interpret collected data for accurate resource estimation.
• Assess the commercial viability of resource deposits, including size, quality, and accessibility.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports detailing findings, methodologies, and recommendations for exploration projects.
• Ensure all field activities comply with environmental and safety regulations, minimizing ecological and operational risks.
• Collaborate with engineers, environmental scientists, and project managers to optimize exploration and development strategies.
• Participate in project planning, providing geological expertise to guide decision-making processes.
• Stay updated on advancements in geological tools, techniques, and industry trends to enhance exploration efforts.

Qualifications and Skills

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an advantage.

Experience

• 2-5 years of experience in geological exploration, mapping, or resource assessment.
• Experience in [mining/oil and gas/environmental consulting] is preferred.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in geological software such as ArcGIS, Surfer, Petrel, or similar tools.
• Strong knowledge of geological sampling, analysis techniques, and resource modeling.

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities to address complex geological challenges.
• Excellent communication skills for preparing reports and presenting findings to stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in diverse team settings.
