Job Description

• Teach Geography and History effectively across the assigned classes and levels.
• Prepare detailed lesson plans, teaching materials, assessments, and schemes of work.
• Deliver engaging, student-centred lessons using appropriate teaching methods and educational technology.
• Develop students’ knowledge of geographical concepts, historical events, critical thinking, research, and analytical skills.
• Conduct tests, examinations, practical activities, assignments, and continuous assessments.
• Monitor students’ academic progress and provide appropriate support where necessary.
• Maintain accurate records of students’ attendance, performance, and academic development.
• Participate actively in departmental meetings, school activities, excursions, and co-curricular programmes.
• Maintain good classroom management and uphold the school’s academic and behavioural standards.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and school management to support students’ overall development.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the school’s academic programmes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (B.Ed., B.A., B.Sc. Ed., or equivalent) in Geography, History, Education, or a related field.
• 4–7 years of relevant teaching experience, preferably in a reputable secondary school.
• Strong knowledge of the Nigerian secondary-school curriculum and relevant external examination standards.
• Proven ability to teach Geography and/or History effectively at secondary-school level.
• Excellent communication, classroom management, assessment, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to use computers and educational technology effectively in teaching and learning.
• Candidates should be resident in Ibadan or within reasonable commuting distance of Ibadan.
• Must demonstrate professionalism, integrity, commitment, and a passion for teaching.
• Relevant teaching qualifications or professional certifications will be an added advantage.
