Job Summary

• The Generator Operator will be responsible for the daily operation, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting of industrial generators at our facility.
• The successful candidate will ensure that generators are functioning efficiently, minimizing downtime and preventing power outages.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor generators to ensure efficient power supply during operation hours.
• Conduct routine checks and inspections of generators and associated systems to identify potential issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and general servicing of the generators.
• Record daily generator readings, including fuel consumption, voltage output, and operating hours.
• Ensure generators are refueled regularly and maintain fuel levels to prevent outages.
• Troubleshoot and repair minor issues related to generator functionality.
• Liaise with external technicians for major repairs and ensure timely interventions.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment around the generator room.
• Respond promptly to any generator breakdowns or alarms, ensuring power is restored with minimal disruption.
• Maintain an inventory of spare parts and consumables required for generator maintenance.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and standard operating procedures when operating or working near generators.
• Keep detailed logs of maintenance activities, repairs, and operational performance.

Requirements

• Diploma or certification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
• Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in operating and maintaining industrial generators, preferably in an FMCG or manufacturing environment.

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of generator systems, including diesel-powered generators.
• Proficient in diagnosing and repairing basic generator issues.
• Familiarity with load management, voltage regulation, and generator control systems.
• Ability to read technical manuals and interpret schematic diagrams related to generator operations.
• Experience in maintaining fuel supply systems and ensuring proper fuel storage.

Soft Skills:

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Effective communication skills for reporting operational issues.
• Ability to follow safety protocols and work in a team-oriented environment.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, and working in various environmental conditions.
