    Fleet Manager

    Key Purpose of Job

    • Responsible for management and maintenance of TSL assets.
    • Prepare budget to ensure expenditure is monitored and controlled and that value for money is obtained.
    • Provision of leadership team to staff within the department including dealing with grievance, disciplinary, capability and absence issues.
    • Responsible for the establishment of adequate workshop processes and practices in line with TSL HSE procedures.
    • Act as the primary contact with the bus maintenance partner(s) and OEM, fleet cleaning vendor, the road transport regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders; with regards fleet services matters.

    Main Responsibilities
    Budgetary Responsibilities:

    • Produce an annual budget to management to cover the maintenance activities of the buses.
    • Provide management with estimates and budget costs throughout the financial year as required.

    Customer Responsibilities:

    • Ensure clear communications are maintained between team members, operations team, finance team, HSE team, line management and vendors.

    Operational Responsibilities:

    • Overall management of the buses.
    • Manage the process of fleet presentation, accident reporting, wilful damages by drivers, vehicle maintenance and servicing.
    • Ensure all vehicle accidents are accurately recorded and investigated with claim forms submitted to the TSL HSE and Legal Team. Act as primary contact with buses insurers, on fleet repair costing.
    • Manage the processes for obtaining damage estimates, the carrying out of repairs and ensure maximum availability of buses for operational teams.
    • Act as fleet adviser for Operations Managers.
    • Liaise with the Finance team to procure new fleet and arrange disposal vehicles.
    • Responsible for fleet maintenance & position database and ensuring its accuracy.
    • Develop and maintain a comprehensive preventive adherence program for the company’s fleet.
    • Recommend and Implement policies that will effectively address the systemic gaps, leakages identified during repairs and maintenance period.

    Employee responsibilities.

    • Manage staff in line with TSL Human Resources policies and procedures.
    • Manage performance of team members and ensure performance objectives a reset in line with TSL performance management policies and procedures.
    • Ensure team members undertake training in line with individual personal development plans.
    • Ensure effective supervision of team members is always maintained and particularly with new or inexperienced people

    Health and Safety Responsibilities:

    • Ensure compliance with all health, safety and security regulations and
    • policies.
    • Ensure that adequate and effective risk assessments are undertaken and
    • regularly reviewed.
    • Liaise with HSE department on any health, safety, or security problem which
    • you cannot resolve.
    • Responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of all staff under direct
    • management and expected to contribute to the health and safety of all
    • personnel in the overall business unit.

    Job Requirements

    • A good University degree in Mechanical Engineering
    • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in a bus transport company, with the last three years in a management role.
