    Finance Lead

    Location: Onipan, Lagos
    Department: Finance
    Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

    Job Summary

    • The Finance Lead is the highest-ranking finance professional in the Company and is responsible for overseeing and controlling all financial functions of the business.
    • The role provides financial leadership to the Company and ensures strong financial management, accurate reporting, effective cash flow management, financial controls, compliance, and informed decision-making.
    • A key focus of the role is management accounting — providing Management and the CEO with timely, accurate, and actionable financial information to understand the Company's performance, manage costs, improve profitability, and make sound business decisions.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead and oversee all finance and accounting functions of the Company, including management accounting, financial reporting, treasury, payables, receivables, collections, budgeting, and financial controls.
    • Prepare and present accurate and timely monthly management accounts, financial reports, and business performance analysis to the CEO and Management.
    • Provide clear analysis of revenue, costs, margins, cash flow, profitability, variances, and overall financial performance.
    • Develop and manage the Company's annual budget, forecasts, financial plans, and regular reforecasts.
    • Monitor cash flow and working capital, ensuring the Company has adequate visibility of its financial position and upcoming obligations.
    • Oversee accounts receivable, collections, payables, and supplier obligations to ensure effective working capital management.
    • Establish and maintain strong financial controls, processes, approval systems, and financial policies across the business.
    • Ensure accurate and timely bank, customer, vendor, payroll, and other financial reconciliations.
    • Monitor financial performance across business units and identify areas of financial risk, inefficiency, overspending, or opportunity.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable tax, statutory, regulatory, accounting, and reporting requirements.
    • Lead the preparation and coordination of internal and external audits.
    • Provide financial guidance and analysis for business decisions, investments, pricing, expansion, cost management, and other strategic initiatives.
    • Ensure the integrity, completeness, and accuracy of the Company's financial records and systems.
    • Develop financial dashboards and reports that give Management clear visibility into the Company's financial position and performance.
    • Lead, manage, and develop the Finance team, ensuring clear accountability and effective execution across all finance functions.
    • Work closely with the CEO and other business leaders to align financial management with the Company's operational and strategic objectives.
    • Identify opportunities to improve financial efficiency, reduce costs, strengthen controls, and improve profitability.
    • Perform any other reasonable duties required by the CEO.

    Management Accounting Focus:

    • The Finance Lead is expected to go beyond recording financial transactions and provide Management with a clear understanding of what the numbers mean for the business.

    This includes:

    • Monthly management accounts and financial performance reviews.
    • Budget vs. actual analysis and variance reporting.
    • Revenue, gross margin, and profitability analysis.
    • Business unit and product-level financial analysis.
    • Cash flow forecasting and working capital analysis.
    • Cost analysis and cost-control recommendations.
    • Financial modelling and scenario planning.
    • Identification of financial risks and opportunities.
    • Providing actionable recommendations to the CEO and Management.

    Key Performance Indicators

    • Accuracy and timeliness of monthly management accounts.
    • Quality and usefulness of financial analysis provided to Management.
    • Accuracy of budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
    • Cash flow and working capital management.
    • Revenue, cost, margin, and profitability visibility.
    • Effective management of receivables and payables.
    • Timely completion of reconciliations and financial reporting.
    • Compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations.
    • Strength and effectiveness of financial controls.
    • Audit readiness and timely resolution of audit findings.
    • Overall effectiveness and performance of the Finance function.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
    • Professional qualification such as ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent is strongly preferred.
    • 5+ years of relevant finance and accounting experience, with significant experience leading a finance function.
    • Strong experience in management accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
    • Strong understanding of treasury, accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, payroll, taxation, and financial controls.
    • Experience managing and developing a finance team.
    • Strong proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and accounting or ERP systems.
    • Strong commercial and business understanding, with the ability to translate financial information into actionable business decisions.
    • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
    • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and accountability.
    • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and evolving business environment.
