Job Description

• We are currently seeking experienced and motivated candidates to join our operations in Lagos, Nigeria for permanent, full-time position.
• Fiber Optic Technicians are involved in all facets of fiber splicing including cable preparation, termination, fusion-splicing, testing and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Ability to lay cable, monitor and supervise proper description of projects
• Splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of fiber sites and links
• Documenting and reporting on work completed
• Submission of site reports on a daily basis
• Maintaining project and safety documentation
• Inspecting fiber routes and hub sites as preventative maintenance
• Ensuring all attended sites are clearly labelled
• Locating faults and mobilizing resources within minimal time to counter fault
• Restoring links within 4 hours or less depending on the criticality
• Proficient in fiber cable termination with connectors
• Well versed in fusion splicing machine technique
• Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
• Ability to work in all weather conditions, confined spaces, isolation
• Ability to work in a physically demanding atmosphere including, but is not limited to: carry, raise and climb a ladder, carry, lift and handle heavy equipment (manhole covers, cable reels)
• Self-disciplined, motivated and organized

Qualifications

• B.Eng in Engineering or HND in an Engineering Field
• Knowledge of measurements, calibration and troubleshooting of optical tools.

Skills:

• Technical Site Survey Skills
• Knowledge of Optical Fibre Deployment
• Splicing Skills
• Proficiency in use of Optical test tools
• Proficiency in use of drawing software

Other Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or on emergency call outs as required
• Although most work will be done in Lagos, willingness to travel would be beneficial as travel options may arise for future projects.
