Job Summary

• This position creates detailed drawings in CAD using FTTH distribution principles based on customer handoff documents.
• Contributes design modifications to facilitate telco design and permitting activities.
• Checks drawing plats versus the project input for correctness and conformance to standards.
• Works with engineers regarding model accuracy, design, and industry standard drafting.
• May work with system management including file maintenance, backup, storage, and customer proprietary software.

Essential Functions

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS and layering, fundamental knowledge of Outside Plant, running line, conduit and cable design for copper, fiber optics, manholes, hand holes, and poles (aerial and underground).
• Assist in the planning, analysis, and recommendations in support of new construction of outside plant network structures and facilities.

Job Requirements

• Associates or Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience 2 years of related experience
• A thorough understanding / experience in the Outside Plant telecom industry, public right-of-way, private easements, existing utilities such as water, sewer, electric, gas, and other underground and aerial utilities.
• Site surveys, translating field notes to develop and update conduit/ cable engineering design drawings in AutoCAD experience required;
• Experience with GPON, Lightgig, FTTH is a plus;

Telecoms Experience Required:

• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficient in MS Office; including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
• Experience reading blueprints, conduit prints, and floor plans.
• Experience reading and understanding plat maps, and FTTH distribution standards.
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills for interfacing with different work groups internally or externally.
• Be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be self-motivated and self-starter.
• Advanced AutoCAD experience a plus.

Physical Demands:

• Sitting for extended periods of time while viewing a computer monitor and performing various desk work.
• Dexterity of hands and reaching to operate keyboard/calculator and file documents.
• Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 25 lbs Vision requires eyesight sufficiently strong enough to permit extended close work and normal color perception.
