Feed Milling Supervisor at Aureole Consulting Limited

Role Purpose

• The Feed Milling Supervisor will oversee accurate execution of approved poultry feed formulations for 30,000 layers and 10,000 broilers, ensuring that every batch meets nutritional specifications for optimal growth and egg production.
• A key responsibility is monitoring feed quality and consistency to maintain strong feed conversion ratios (FCR) across all flocks, minimizing waste and maximizing efficiency.
• The role also requires strict control of raw material inventory, including inspection, storage, rotation, and usage tracking of maize, soybean meal, premixes, and additives.
• By aligning feed formulation accuracy with disciplined inventory management, the supervisor directly drives flock performance and overall farm profitability.

Key Responsibilities
Supervision & Team Leadership:

• Lead, train, and supervise 2 feed mill assistants.
• Allocate daily tasks, monitor performance, and ensure safe and efficient work practices.
• Enforce biosecurity and PPE compliance in the milling area.

Milling Operations:

• Plan and oversee feed production schedules in line with bird age and feed demand.
• Supervise batching, mixing, grinding, pelleting (if applicable), crumbling, and bagging.
• Ensure correct formulas are followed for layer and broiler feed.

Quality & Nutrition Control:

• Maintain feed consistency and particle size for optimal FCR.
• Calibrate scales, mixers, and dosing equipment to ensure accuracy.
• Collect feed samples and conduct basic in-house quality checks.

Raw Material & Inventory Management:

• Supervise receipt and storage of maize, soybean meal, premixes, additives, and concentrates.
• Inspect raw materials for quality and contamination.
• Track daily usage and ensure FIFO stock rotation.

Preventive Maintenance & Safety:

• Schedule daily checks and minor maintenance of mill equipment.
• Report equipment breakdowns and liaise with the Farm Maintenance Manager.
• Enforce dust control, machine guarding, and safe operation of mill machinery.

Record Keeping & Reporting:

• Maintain production logs: feed type, batch size, ingredient usage, wastage, and downtime.
• Monitor feed cost per ton and report variances.
• Submit weekly feed production and consumption reports to farm management.

KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)

• Feed formulation accuracy: ≥ 98% compliance with specifications.
• Production efficiency: ≥ 95% of scheduled feed output achieved.
• Downtime: ≤ 2% of total scheduled milling hours.
• Feed wastage: ≤ 1% of input.
• Team performance: 100% adherence to safety and biosecurity.
• Reporting: 100% timely and accurate submission of logs and reports.

Qualifications & Skills

• OND / HND in Animal Science, Agriculture, Production/Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
• 3 - 5 years’ poultry feed milling experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
• Solid understanding of poultry nutrition and feed formulation basics.
• Strong leadership, communication, and reporting skills.
• Practical knowledge of mill machinery operation and minor maintenance.
