The Farm Manager leads daily and strategic operations in modern agriculture, managing diverse poultry setups including layer and broiler breeders. They oversee automated feeding, ventilation, housing, and egg collection systems, enhancing productivity through biosecurity, flock health, and feeding best practices aligned with international standards. This role requires hands-on leadership, fostering team accountability and continuous improvement, and coordinating with veterinary and technical experts to ensure animal welfare and farm output. The manager ensures all activities meet quality control and sustainability goals, supporting responsible farming and environmental care. Additionally, the Farm Manager trains and develops personnel, promoting a safe, disciplined work environment, balancing technical expertise with strong management to achieve consistent, high-quality results that advance the organisation's growth.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and supervise daily farm operations to achieve production goals, quality standards, and budget requirements.
Manage poultry operations using modern automated technologies to enhance efficiency and animal welfare.
Ensure compliance with operational protocols, biosecurity measures, and international standards.
Apply best practices in nutrition, health monitoring, vaccination, and parental stock management to optimize flock performance.
Monitor and analyze key farm health indicators such as mortality rates, growth consistency, egg production, and hatchability to support decision-making.
Implement sanitation, preventive medication, and labor hygiene procedures to maintain optimal farm conditions.
Maintain high biosecurity and hygiene standards to prevent disease outbreaks and protect livestock.
Lead, mentor, and develop farm staff to foster responsibility, high performance, and professional growth.
Collaborate with veterinary and technical teams to address health and operational challenges promptly, ensuring continuous farm productivity.
Job Requirements
10 to 15 years of experience in farm or livestock operations - At least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role - Experience with modern, automated farming systems is strongly preferred
Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Sciences or Agricultural Sciences (Animal Production or a related discipline).
Postgraduate studies or specialization in Poultry Production, Pathology, or related fields is an additional advantage.
