Engineering Manager at T.O.N Corporate Services

The Engineering Manager will oversee all engineering, maintenance, and technical services required for the smooth execution of the Long-Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLIN) project. This includes managing plant machinery, utilities, preventive maintenance, process optimization, and ensuring compliance with international standards during operations.

The position involves organizing, managing resources, and communicating with stakeholders (internal and external).

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Production & Process Engineering

• Provide technical support for sewing, baling, and packaging operations.
• Oversee setup, installation, and commissioning of new equipment.
• Ensure process efficiency, machine reliability, and minimal downtime.

Maintenance & Utilities

• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for sewing machines, baling presses, forklifts, and related equipment.
• Manage electrical installations, power distribution, backup generators, and HVAC systems.
• Monitor and optimize energy consumption and utility efficiency.

Civil & Facility Works

• Supervise basic civil works for plant modifications, expansions, or repairs.
• Coordinate with contractors for safe and timely execution of construction/renovation projects.
• Ensure compliance with building safety codes.

Material Handling & Logistics Support

• Manage operation and maintenance of forklifts and other material handling equipment.
• Train operators and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
• Support layout planning for efficient material flow and storage.

Compliance & Safety

• Implement and enforce HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) standards.
• Support audits, certifications, and donor/partner inspections.

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead and mentor engineering, maintenance, and utility teams.
• Plan manpower allocation for round-the-clock operations.
• Foster teamwork, technical upskilling, and a culture of accountability.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory/managerial engineering role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (Master’s is an advantage).
• Proven experience with sewing/textile equipment, utilities (HVAC, electrical), and plant maintenance.
• Strong technical knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, civil, HVAC).
• Knowledge of forklift operations, civil works, and factory layouts.
• Self-driven and Ability to manage contractors, vendors, and technical service providers.
• Strong background in preventive maintenance, reliability engineering, and project management.
• Strong ability to work independently.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and prioritize your own workload.
• Ability to build strong internal relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
