    Electrical Technician

    The Electrical Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment to ensure optimal functionality and safety across the facility.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Ability to Install, connect, commission, and maintain three-phase electric motors.
    • Ability to Diagnose and troubleshoot motor faults, including electrical and control-circuit problems.
    • Carry out routine and preventive maintenance on motors and associated equipment.
    • Troubleshoot and maintain Direct-On-Line (DOL), Star-Delta, and other motor starting systems.
    • Maintain and troubleshoot motor control panels, contactors, overload relays, circuit breakers, fuses, and protection devices.
    • Ability to Identify and correct issues such as phase loss, overloading, overheating, abnormal current draw, insulation failure, and motor imbalance.
    • Good understanding of motor alignment, coupling checks, and identification of mechanical conditions that may affect motor performance.
    • Ability to be able to Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, and motor control schematics.
    • Maintain accurate records of motor inspections, faults, repairs, tests, and maintenance activities.
    • Carry out emergency breakdown repairs and respond promptly to equipment failures.
    • Work closely with mechanical, production, and engineering teams to minimize equipment downtime.
    • Recommend replacement of defective components and identify potential electrical problems before they result in equipment failure.
    • Test motor windings, insulation resistance, continuity, phase balance, and other electrical parameters.
    • Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable safety procedures, standards, and company requirements.
    • Ability to be able to work under pressure and to work extra hours if need be.

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • OND/HND/B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
    • Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in electrical maintenance (industrial or manufacturing preferred).
    • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, motors, and control panels.
    • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and technical manuals.
    • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under minimal supervision.
