    Education Specialist (Sector Planning), NO-3

    How can you make a difference?

    Reporting to the Education Manager, the Education Specialist, is accountable for supporting the planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of Education programme(s) to ensure overall efficiency and effectiveness of the programme management, delivery and accomplishment of programme goals and objectives. The candidate will support programs on public financing of education, national and international learning assessment, and climate change education. Across the Education programme(s), the candidate will be accountable for supporting partners in identifying inequities in education, and for developing innovative approaches and programmes to eliminating these. The specialist must ensure collaboration across programme(s) to ensure gender, disability and equity-based mainstreaming. The specialist will also ensure that monitoring mechanisms are in place to track progress towards goals and targets in Education.

     To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

    • An advanced university degree in one or more of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: Education Planning and Management; Education Sector Planning or Education Economist relevant to international development assistance;
    • Five years of progressively professional work experience at national and international levels in field programmes relevant to Education programmes with a focus on public education financing and learning assessment. Experience working in the UN or other international development organization is an asset (IP)
    • Experience in national-level development assistance is an asset.
    • Experience in working with high-level government functionaries and advocating for policy shifts; and leveraging UNICEF convening power in advocacy for more informed policies for children.
    • Experience with addressing inequities, and gender disparities is an asset.
    • Fluency in oral and written English

    Skills

    • Background in sector plan development and strategic planning skills.
    • Very solid track record in networking skills
    • Strong constructive, analytical and conceptual writing skills.
