Responsibilities

• Safely operate the emergency van, ensuring timely transportation of paramedics to and from emergency sites.
• Assist paramedics in loading and unloading medical equipment and patients when necessary.
• Ensure the emergency van is always ready for operation, including daily vehicle checks, maintenance, and refuelling.
• Adhere to all traffic laws, driving regulations, and safety protocols while maintaining a calm demeanour during high-stress situations.
• Collaborate with paramedics and other emergency staff to ensure efficient and effective response to emergencies.
• Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, trip logs, and other relevant documentation. Respond promptly to dispatch calls and follow established routes or best alternative paths in case of roadblocks or traffic delays.
• Stay informed of emergency procedures and routes within the service area.

Qualifications

• 6 - 10 years of professional driving experience, preferably in emergency services or a similar high-pressure environment.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Experience with operating emergency vehicles or large vans is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, and safety procedures.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with paramedics and other emergency personnel.
