    Deputy Head Nurse

    Job Summary:

    • The Deputy Head Nurse will provide clinical leadership and support to the nursing team, ensuring high-quality patient care and effective management of nursing services.
    • This role requires a strong clinical/administrative background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide clinical guidance and support to nursing staff, promoting best practices and evidence-based care.
    • Assist the Head Nurse in managing the nursing team, including staff development, performance management, and mentorship.
    • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care and effective communication.
    • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards to improve nursing care and patient outcomes.
    • Manage and allocate nursing resources, including staff, equipment, and supplies.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes.
    • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
    • Provide education and training to patients, families, and staff on various healthcare topics.
    • Analyze data and trends to inform nursing practice and improve patient care.

    Requirements:

    • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BNSc) or equivalent qualification.
    • Registered Nurse (RN) and duly licensed with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
    • Master's degree in Nursing or a related field is an added advantage.
    • Minimum of ten (10) years post-qualification experience, with at least five (5) years in a leadership administrative role.
    • Strong clinical skills, with experience in managing complex patient care situations.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Proven ability to work in high-pressure environments and manage multiple priorities.
    • Sound knowledge of nursing protocols, hospital policies, and regulatory standards.
