    Deputy General Manager (Fleet)

    Key Responsibilities:

    Fleet Strategy & Network Optimization

    • Develop and execute a fleet strategy to support nationwide distribution across hubs, gateways, and last-mile delivery points.
    • Align fleet capacity with daily shipment volumes, peak periods, and regional demand fluctuations.
    • Optimize route planning and vehicle allocation for both last-mile and line-haul operations.

    High-Volume Operations Management

    • Oversee daily operations of a large and diverse fleet (vans, bikes, trucks).
    • Ensure vehicles are available to meet strict delivery timelines (same-day, next-day, inter-state).
    • Partner closely with Gateway, Hub, and Regional Operations teams to eliminate bottlenecks.

    Maintenance & Fleet Reliability

    • Drive a zero-downtime mindset through strict preventive maintenance culture.
    • Ensure all regional workshops and third-party vendors meet SLA standards.
    • Standardize maintenance processes across all regions to reduce variability.

    Cost Optimization & Fuel Efficiency

    • Lead aggressive cost-control initiatives across fuel, repairs, and spare parts.
    • Implement and monitor fuel management systems to reduce wastage and fraud.
    • Track and improve cost per delivery and cost per kilometer.

    Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

    • Enforce strict adherence to transport regulations, vehicle documentation, and safety standards.
    • Drive safety programs for riders and drivers (training, audits, enforcement).
    • Investigate incidents and deploy corrective/preventive actions across the network.

    Technology & Data-Driven Operations

    • Leverage telematics, GPS tracking, and fleet management systems for real-time visibility.
    • Use data analytics to improve route efficiency, driver behavior, and asset utilization.
    • Champion digital transformation initiatives within fleet operations.

    Driver Management

    • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and performance management of drivers.
    • Drive discipline, productivity, and adherence to service standards.
    • Reduce attrition through engagement and structured incentive programs.

    Vendor & Partner Management

    • Manage third-party transporters, leasing partners, and maintenance vendors.
    • Negotiate contracts and enforce SLAs to ensure service quality and cost efficiency.

    Cross-Functional Collaboration

    Work closely with:

    • Gateway Operations (for inter-state movement)
    • Customer Experience (to reduce delivery complaints)
    • Finance (budgeting and cost control)
    • HR (driver workforce planning)

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

    • On-time delivery rate (OTD)
    • Fleet availability (≥ 95% target)
    • Vehicle downtime reduction
    • Cost per delivery / cost per km
    • Fuel efficiency & fuel loss reduction
    • Rider/driver productivity (deliveries per rider/day)
    • Accident and safety incident rate
    • Maintenance turnaround time

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Logistics, Transport Management, or related field (MBA preferred).
    • 8–15 years’ experience in logistics/fleet operations, with at least 5–7 years in senior leadership.
    • Proven experience managing large, distributed fleets in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment.
    • Strong understanding of last-mile delivery and inter-state logistics operations.

    • Experience in e-commerce, courier, or express logistics companies
    • Hands-on experience with telematics and route optimization tools
    • Background in managing both owned and outsourced fleets
