Customer Experience Engineer at Umba

We are looking for an engineer to join our Customer Experience (CE) team to support customer facing members with tools, scripts and automation and serve as the interface between CE and our core engineering teams. The primary focus of this role is to leverage experience in python as well as other scripting tools to invoke the core platform APIs, manipulate data in the database and extend our administrative application developed on top of Flask to help the CE team address individual customer issues and build self-service capabilities for common repeatable tasks. This role requires an individual that is comfortable in a fast paced environment and comfortable to interact with a globally distributed development organization.

This role may also involve contributing enhancements and/or bug fixes to the core platform.

Responsibilities

• Create single use scripts for the purpose of executing bulk actions across the user base.
• Create automation in the from of re-usable scripts and extension of our flask web application for highly recurring tasks
• Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute ideas to our technology, algorithms, and products
• Dive into difficult problems and successfully deliver results on schedule

Skills and Qualifications

• At least 2 years of recent hands-on coding and software design
• Degree in engineering preferred, but significant work that can be shared will be accepted
• At least 1 year of experience with Python (or other object oriented languages)
• At least 1 year of experience with SQL and SQL database like PostgreSQL
• JavaScript/TypeScript React experience a plus
• A track record of projects completed on time – you are a flawless executor, not a procrastinator
• Solid OOP and software design knowledge – you should know how to create software that’s extensible, reusable, and meets desired architectural objectives
