    Curriculum Development Expert

    Job Description

    • The Curriculum Development Expert will support the review and updating of the Higher National Diploma (HND) Agribusiness Management Programme to ensure alignment with current industry needs, labour market demands, and emerging trends in agribusiness. Under the direction of the project lead, the expert will play a key role in conducting a retrospective review of the existing curriculum and facilitating a consultative process to co-create an updated curriculum framework and Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards (CMAS).
    • The primary focus of this role is to assess the current HND Agribusiness Management programme to identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities for improvement, including gender-responsive enhancements. The expert will also lead the development of an updated curriculum that reflects industry priorities such as digital agriculture, value chain development, and Agri logistics, while ensuring alignment with the accreditation requirements of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

    Job Responsibilities

    Technical Support

    • Conduct a retrospective review of the existing HND Agribusiness Management curriculum and related course materials to assess relevance, strengths, and gaps in relation to current industry and market demands.
    • Identify opportunities for strengthening gender responsiveness within the programme, including curriculum content, teaching approaches, and learning outcomes.
    • Lead the development of an updated HND Agribusiness Management programme curriculum aligned with industry needs and emerging agribusiness trends.
    • Facilitate stakeholder consultative forums involving representatives from NBTE, relevant federal ministries, Colleges of Agriculture, private sector agribusiness organizations, and industry experts to co-create the revised curriculum.
    • Develop Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards (CMAS) for the updated HND Agribusiness Management programme in accordance with NBTE accreditation requirements.
    • Integrate emerging agribusiness topics into the curriculum, including digital agriculture and agritech applications, agribusiness value chain management, agrilogistics and supply chain management, and market intelligence and agribusiness data systems.
    • Develop modular Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes in emerging agribusiness topics to support flexible and lifelong learning for professionals in the sector. Develop supporting documentation and materials to guide implementation of the revised curriculum and CPD programmes.
    • Revise and incorporate feedback on curriculum drafts and supporting documents within agreed timelines.

    Project Management and Coordination

    • Collaborate with the project lead and technical team to ensure alignment of curriculum development activities with project objectives and timelines.
    • Actively participate in stakeholder consultations, validation workshops, and project meetings to share updates, discuss challenges, and obtain feedback.
    • Maintain regular communication with key stakeholders and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
    • Provide technical inputs and documentation required to support the accreditation and validation process for the revised curriculum.
    • Perform additional tasks relevant to the consultancy as assigned by the project director.

    Job Deliverables

    • Retrospective review report highlighting strengths, gaps, and opportunities for improvement in the existing HND Agribusiness Management programme.
    • Updated HND Agribusiness Management curriculum aligned with industry needs and emerging agribusiness trends.
    • Draft Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards (CMAS) for the programme consistent with NBTE requirements.
    • Modular CPD programme outlines on emerging agribusiness topics suitable for flexible delivery formats.
    • Final curriculum and supporting documentation incorporating feedback from stakeholder consultations and validation workshops.

    Required Qualifications

    • Advanced degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Education, Curriculum Development, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in curriculum development for tertiary or technical and vocational education programmes.
    • Demonstrated experience working with accreditation bodies or education regulatory agencies, preferably the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
    • Strong knowledge of agribusiness systems, agricultural value chains, and emerging trends such as digital agriculture and agrilogistics.
    • Experience facilitating multi-stakeholder consultations or workshops involving academia, government, and private sector stakeholders.
    • Experience developing modular training programmes or continuing professional development (CPD) courses is an added advantage.
    • Strong analytical, facilitation, and technical writing skills with the ability to produce high-quality curriculum documentation.
