    Credit Portfolio Analyst

    Job Summary:

    The Credit Portfolio Analyst will achieve credit growth through review, development, testing and performance of credit scoring models contributing to the development of the Retail Credit Analysis strategy, translating the strategy into performance that will deliver revenue, profitability and share of market objectives.

    The Credit Portfolio Analyst will also execute credit underwriting operations, including credit analysis and approval recommendations to the relevant approval authorities and drive quality lending objectives by monitoring and reporting on the lending portfolio, supporting the Team Lead to develop monitoring and reporting standards that drive quality portfolio handling.

    Accountabilities:

    • Manage credit scoring projects, develop project plans, and monitor portfolio performance.
    • Develop, review, and refine credit score cards to achieve risk-based decisions and pricing for Advancly’s borrowers.
    • Identify potential risks of events and their financial impact on borrowers.
    • Responsible for Data analysis and development of models/reports to inform management’s decision.
    • Ensure all credit systems are in use to capture, manage, and report credit activities and information.
    • Conduct market research to inform credit risk underwriting process design and assessment techniques in a highly digital and data driven environment.
    • Assist the Team Lead to guide the Credit, Growth and Expansion teams in their roles and responsibilities to optimize returns on credit granting.
    • Manage delinquent accounts with a view to collect overdue amounts and remedy or exit Advancly exposure under the portfolio.
    • Monitor the quality and growth of the loan book with a view to ultimately automate reports, alerts, and triggers for action.
    • Collaborate with the Product team and external dependencies (such as, solution vendors, credit bureau, government portals, etc.) to ensure automated lending solutions are delivering quality lending direction and decisions e.g., credit scores, ratings, and decisions.
    • Establish and review risk tolerance thresholds based on credit risk appetite and escalate exceptions to guard against unacceptable credit losses arising from breach of appetite.
    • Monitor covenant compliance and account performance to ensure credit risk stays within agreed thresholds.
    • Monitor key portfolio performance trends to ensure strong portfolio credit quality with a good balance of risk and reward.

    Education/Experience

    I. Qualification 

    • Academic: Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Economics, or any other related business or quantitative field.
    • Professional: Any Big Data or Data Science certification from recognized institutions, Credit Management or Analysis qualification, ACCA/CPA.

    II. Minimum Work Experience

    • Minimum of 4 years post qualification experience in Credit Portfolio Management.

    • Numeracy and analytical skills
    • Proficiency in software and modeling programs
    • Demonstrate a passion for research, statistics, and data analysis
    • Strong understanding of data-mining techniques and an ability to apply these techniques in practical real-world business issues
    • Excellent at collaborating with Customers, Product, Tech and Process flow Design to bring potential risk management solutions to life
    • Candid knowledge of the financial sector and risk management guidelines and any current banking and/or fintech operations practice
    • Ability to apply business and/or economics knowledge to evaluate, manage, and advise on financial risks
    • Able to manage internal and external partners to optimize cost of risk
    • Can appropriately influence and persuade others, e.g. clients to a course of action.
    • Able to translate and align strategy in a meaningful way for team, other teams, and build a shared understanding of team goals.
