We are seeking a skilled and experienced Crane Operator to join our team in the oil and gas industry.
The Crane Operator will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating cranes to support drilling, production, and maintenance activities on offshore or onshore oil and gas facilities.
This role requires a strong understanding of crane operation, safety protocols specific to the oil and gas sector, and equipment maintenance.
Responsibilities
Operate and control cranes to lift, move, and position equipment, materials, and supplies on offshore or onshore oil and gas facilities.
Conduct pre-operational checks on cranes to ensure they are in proper working condition, including inspecting cables, hooks, and other components.
Understand and follow all safety protocols and industry-specific regulations, including rigging procedures, load limits, and hazardous area classifications.
Communicate effectively with rig personnel, crane operators, and other team members using radios or other communication devices to coordinate lifts and movements.
Rig and secure loads properly before lifting to ensure stability and safety, considering factors such as wind, waves (for offshore operations), and weight distribution.
Monitor crane operations and adjust as needed to maintain accuracy, safety, and productivity.
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on cranes to ensure optimal performance and reliability, following manufacturer's guidelines and company procedures.
Keep accurate records of crane operations, maintenance activities, safety inspections, and equipment certifications.
Adhere to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including environmental and occupational health and safety standards.
Assist in training and mentoring junior crane operators and other personnel as needed.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Crane Operator in the oil and gas industry, preferably with experience in offshore operations.
Valid crane operator certification or license required, with additional certifications such as offshore crane operator certification highly desirable.
Strong understanding of crane operation techniques, safety protocols specific to the oil and gas sector, and equipment maintenance in a hazardous environment.
Ability to interpret load charts, blueprints, and job specifications relevant to oil and gas operations.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Physical stamina and strength to operate cranes and lift heavy loads in challenging conditions.
Attention to detail and a focus on safety, with a commitment to zero incidents.
Willingness to work on offshore platforms, in remote locations, and in various weather conditions.
Flexibility to work extended hours, on rotating shifts, and during emergency situations as needed.
Higher Education, a diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or certifications related to crane operation and the oil and gas industry are a plus.
